πŸŽ… Christmas Lights πŸŽ…

When the class is quiet, Santa's sleigh flies down the street, dropping presents and lighting up each house. When it gets too loud, Santa flies off to hide! If it stays loud, the lights start going out.

Class goal: Light up all nine houses before the lesson ends!

How Christmas Lights works

1. Plug in the lights

Choose a lesson length, press Light Up the Street, and allow the microphone. The monitor listens for a moment to learn how your room sounds when it is calm.

2. Quiet brings Santa by

While the room stays calm, Santa's sleigh glides from house to house, drops a present down each chimney and lights the house up: roof lights, wreaths, glowing windows and lawn decorations.

3. Noise blows the fuse

Too much chatter sends Santa flying off to hide and makes the lights flicker. If it stays loud, the houses go dark again. Tip: remind the class that Santa only comes when it is quiet, and count down the houses left before winter break.

Can the class lose progress in Christmas Lights?

expand_more

Yes, sustained noise has consequences here. If the room stays loud for too long the lights start going out house by house, so students have a real reason to settle down quickly. A few seconds of calm stops the damage.

Christmas Lights is a hit from preschool through grade 5, especially in the weeks before winter break. Watching Santa visit each house keeps younger kids motivated, and the light-up street gives the whole class a shared goal.

Your computer is probably listening to the wrong microphone. Interactive whiteboards often take over as the default mic when they're connected. During a session, open the settings (the tune icon in the top right) and pick your computer's built-in microphone. The choice is remembered for future sessions.
