When the class is quiet, the little ghosts tuck into bed and their windows glow with a sleepy nightlight. When it gets too loud, the ghosts wake up and float away. Shhh, let them sleep!

Class goal: Get all nine ghosts fast asleep before the lesson ends!

How Sleepy Ghost House works

1. Turn the lights out

Choose a lesson length, press Lights Out, and allow the microphone. The monitor listens for a moment to learn how your room sounds when it is calm.

2. Calm tucks the ghosts in

While the class is quiet, nine little ghosts appear in the windows of a moonlit house, pull up their blankets and fall asleep one by one, each window glowing with a soft nightlight.

3. Noise wakes them up

Too much noise makes the ghosts' eyes pop open, and if it carries on they float right out of bed and the windows go dark again. Tip: whisper 'shhh, the ghosts are sleeping' instead of asking for quiet and watch the class play along.

Can the class lose progress in Sleepy Ghost House?

expand_more

Yes: this one is a 'don't wake the ghosts' game. Noise wakes the sleepers, and if it goes on they drift out of their windows, so the class has to settle them back down. The whole house can always be put to sleep again.

What age group is Sleepy Ghost House best for?

expand_more

Sleepy Ghost House is a favourite from kindergarten to about grade 4. The ghosts are round, friendly and rosy-cheeked, so even nervous little ones enjoy it. It is the openly Halloween theme of the autumn set.

The Sleepy Ghost House scene isn't reacting to sound. What should I check?

Your computer is probably listening to the wrong microphone. Interactive whiteboards often take over as the default mic when they're connected. During a session, open the settings (the tune icon in the top right) and pick your computer's built-in microphone. The choice is remembered for future sessions.
