🐟 Calm Aquarium 🐟

When the class is quiet, fish swim in one by one and the tank comes to life. When it gets too loud, the fish dart into hiding! If it stays loud, the water clouds over and they get even shyer.

Class goal: Fill the tank with all nine fish before the lesson ends!

How Calm Aquarium works

1. Switch on the tank light

Choose a lesson length, press Start the Aquarium, and allow the microphone. The monitor listens for a moment to learn how your room sounds when it is calm.

2. Quiet brings the fish in

While the room stays calm, nine fish swim into the tank one by one and settle in among the plants: angelfish, bettas, neon tetras and more.

3. Noise sends them hiding

Too much chatter startles the fish and they dart behind the plants and rocks, only swimming back out once it is calm. Tip: challenge the class to fill the tank before the bell, and let students guess which fish will swim in next.

Calm Aquarium questions

Is Calm Aquarium free to use?

expand_more

Yes. Calm Aquarium is one of the seven themes included in the Free plan, with sessions of up to 30 minutes and no account required. Lifetime Pro (a one-time $20 payment) adds the other twenty-two themes and unlimited session time.

Can the class lose progress in Calm Aquarium?

expand_more

Yes, sustained noise has consequences here. If the room stays loud for too long the water clouds over and the fish retreat into hiding, so students have a real reason to settle down quickly. A few seconds of calm stops the damage.

What age group is Calm Aquarium best for?

expand_more

Calm Aquarium works from preschool all the way to middle school. Young kids love watching the fish arrive, and the realistic, gentle tank suits older classes that find cartoon themes too babyish.

The Calm Aquarium scene isn't reacting to sound. What should I check?

expand_more

Your computer is probably listening to the wrong microphone. Interactive whiteboards often take over as the default mic when they're connected. During a session, open the settings (the tune icon in the top right) and pick your computer's built-in microphone. The choice is remembered for future sessions.
